Safety is a main focus at RMIT Village. We have CCTV monitoring 24 hours a day and security patroling the area. After hours, the main access gates to the Village are clsoed and only residents with an electronic key card can obtain access. Buildings and apartments are only accessible by electronic swipe card and individual bedrooms are lockable.
Some items such as barbeques, radiant heaters or smoking devices are not allowed to be brought into the Village by residents or guests. Please check a list of prohibitted items or check with our staff to ensure your belongings are allowed in.
All support staff are trained in first aid and emergency procedures. We have systems in place to ensure that any issues are managed promptly.
As well as the physical security infrastructure the Village provides, we have a team of Resident Assistants (RA) whom we employ throughout the year. Part of the role of an RA is to be engaged in and promote a fun, safe and inclusive village community. We also boast a full time Residential Life Coordinator responsible for implementing our Residential Life Program allowing residents to mix socially and provide group study occasions throughout the year. All of this activity adds to the sense of community at the Village and a greater sense of belonging and security for our residents.
RMIT Village is managed by Campus Living Villages which offers a Residential Life Program at all sites across Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA.
